Here are some simple tips to keep your premise fire hazard free:

• If your clothes catch fire, stop, don''t run and drop gently to the floor. Roll on the floor to smother the flames. If that doesn''t work, smother flames with a towel or blanket. Immerse burns in cool water for 10-15 minutes. If burns are severe, seek medical help immediately.
• Make sure all windows and doors open easily.
• Be familar with at least 2 exit points out of every room.
• Ensure curtains, blankets and bedspreads are not close to heat sources such as the stove, space heater, radiators or heat vents.
• Wet cigarette butts and ashes before emptying ashtrays into a wastebasket.
• Use smoking materials safely. Never smoke when you are lying down or in bed.
• Plan and clear all emergency exit routes.
• Perform regular fire drills so emergency points can be familiarized.
• Provide emergency action and fire prevention plans.
