“Charity Feast” Discussion of Hong Kong’s Senior Community Launches New Emergency Service for Seniors

HONG KONG; April 30 2009: Chubb Hong Kong Limited Electronic Security Division held a Charity Dinner Event for Senior Citizens to launch a new PortaLink service that provides emergency services to seniors. Representatives of Hong Kong’s Senior Community and Social Service Associations attended the April 24 “Charity Feast” to discuss issues affecting their senior community and share views on enhancing its care and wellbeing. .Chubb is part of UTC Fire & Security, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).

PortaLink is Chubb’s new service product that provides emergency service for seniors while at home or out of the home. Similar to Easilink, this new PortaLink service combines the functions of Easilink with a mobile phone.

“Helping seniors maintain an active lifestyle is important for their health and happiness,” said Mark Brisson, Managing Director of Chubb, Guardforce, Kidde for Hong Kong, Macau & Taiwan. “Services such as PortaLink help enable seniors to go out safely and with confidence.”

Johnny Law, Executive General Manager, said that “in addition to being able to make regular phone calls to friends and relatives, PortaLink’s built-in emergency alert function connects the user to our 24-hour monitoring center.” This instantly provides users with top-notch security service wherever they may be.
